27 May
On Saturday we supported a concert ran by Colors Promotions. the
event was to be a Battle of the Bands but due to some confusion of
booking between RWAB, Colors Promotions and PJMA we decided not to hold
our hold our event but instead just pick the best band from the night.
The best bands was Deep Down
12 May
Spring Fest was a big success,
Randae did from EFF Promotions did a great job coordinating the bands,
helping with all aspect of setup. The crowd set got to enjoy 10

The Go-Go show went head to head with the Great Mill Prom. We
lost! We had a poor turn out. We hope our next event in May
will go much better. On Saturday PJMA supported a Gospel Concert
in Laurel Maryland. It was a refreshing change to work with so
many professionals and exceed their expectations with sound and
lighting.
21 Apr
A roller coaster weekend of concerts. Friday was a Spring Concert
in Lusby. We high energy night with performance by . Beating
the Legend, A New Born Thriller, Mile High School, Stand Clear
and. Leprosy Cupcake. Saturday was the Winter Battle Finals
feature the 4 winners from the Winter Round of Battle of the Bands.
On Saturday morning RWAB opened their shop with a Boy Scout Camporee and
tents back up to the fence separating the site with the St. Marys
Fairgrounds. In the interest of good community relationship with
the campers, RWAB management requested we cancel the event and
reschedule for another time. This was a low point, but probably
better than dealing with campers complaining of loud Rock Bands playing
all evening. We are evaluating our remaining spring schedule and
planned summer schedule to find a date and location to hold Winter
Finals..
14 Apr
After a fast change of venues we held Part 2 of the Battle of the Band
at the St. Mary's County Fairgroound. Our fan based found
their way to enjoying 4 grinding bands. The winner for the
night was
Resistance of the Fallen
with some Delaware Hardcore.
7 Apr
A weekend of Good new and bad. PJMA supported Southern Maryland
Youth Day at St. Johns Church in Hollywood. During the day we
provided sound reinforcement for some truly motivational speaker on
Christian lifestyles. In the evening PJMA sponsored a Christian Rock
Concert featuring Latrice Carr, Failure To Excel and Under Command.
The band got to play for an audience of over 200 new fans! That was the
good news, the bad news is that the management at Room With a Brew has
decided to cancel all future PJMA events and focus on in-house sponsored
events. This was the fallout of a non-PJMA Rock Concert that was poorly
run at RWAB this past weekend. We have begun the process of
booking other venues. We have several alternative locations
and as a result of the SMYD event we have new added options of several
church halls that will be available for booking events. We will
start with relocating this weeks event and the focus on the long term
plans. We try to only cancel events that have not been booked with
bands.
31 Mar
Friday was a fun Battle of the Bandst with 3 bands at the Southern
Community Center. The winner was Sound Break. However, Blame

3 Mar
We tried out a new venue at the St. Joseph Church Parish Hall, the
attendance was low, the Fiction and Carefree competed for the Battle of
the Bands, with Carefree the winner. The good new is both the
leadership for the St. Joseph Church Youth Ministry and PJMA see high
potential for the location with the proper planning and promoting.
We will be announcing future events on a quarterly basis for this
location for the future.

countdown for more details.
17 Dec
The Holiday Party on Friday has two bands that played a holiday song.

kept the attendance down but sill there was a good crowd to see some
really good band brought together by Colors Promotions.
10 Dec
Friday was a Go-Go held at Room With a Brew, the event started on time
but the second and third band got lost and did find the place till
after 10 PM. So, ACB got to play two extended sets while Sucka
Free and U-Neek had to play short sets. SMG and OLB played after
them, we added an extra hour on to the evening so that everyone got time
to play to the good size audience who turned out for the event. On
Saturday we were at My Brother's Place with an event put together by
Color's Promotion. Given the short notice of the relocation
and band lineup intended for St. Mary's we have a good event. The
bands were all great and the fans who came enjoyed the event.

but supportive audience for 5 truly great bands.. Many of
the local fans were holding out for the Battle of the Bands on Saturday.
Thing were coming together well on Saturday night until we had a fan's Dad
come by to check out the venue, he made us aware that studio did not
have the required paper work to hold public events. As a
result we shutdown the event and are in the process of rescheduling the
Battle of the Bands for a date later in December at a more suitable
location. All other events planned for the studio will also
be relocated until they can get the building approved for PJMA type
public events. .
26 Nov
The Thanksgiving Holiday was celebrated by two Go-Go Concerts at
Hyperspace Fun Center. The Friday event was held in honor of Kiki
turning 18 years old. Her sister arranged for numerous bands to
take the stage, each had a special tribute song Kiki. well over 130
people turn out to party. On Saturday we held the second go go
with the plans to have CCB make the closing appearance. About mid
way through the event the promoter for CCB decided to cancel CCB in
order to keep the event with positive cash flow. An outstanding
young DJ Wise filled in late hours with crowd appealing Go-Go Music.
Both night the event ran in to the early morning hours ,as a result we
started cleanup on Sunday afternoon and did not leave until 6 PM. It was
a long but fun weekend. The surplus from these two events will be
going to the New Venue Fund which will minimize such long hours of setup
and cleanup.
19 Nov

fans that voted for them and play good too. Saturday was a downer,
only The Corpses made the event with their 5 fans, there was just
too many high school events, we closed early with no money made for the
new venue. .
15 Oct

It has been a while to update this blog and much has occurred. The
break in blog happened because at the end of June the hard drive used
for PJMA died and had to be sent out for recovery, that was followed by
a two week vacation to Hawaii. We are now back to working order!
The month of July had three major events the Freedom Fest, Summer
Sizzler and the Cove Point Pool Party. Freedom fest was
great, the band played well and the attendance was good. The Summer
Sizzler Concert for the military at Naval Air Station Patuxent River
went well. It was hot, but the bands put on a sizzling
performance. The Battle of the Band at the Cove Point Pool was a
disaster. It started with a lineup change with both Astora and
finally Fall Away dropping due to last minute changes in in band
members. On the night of the event a huge storm blew in with
Lightning, thunder and buckets of rain. Where upon the organizers
from the county had to cancel the event. On Aug 4 we
held the annual PJMA fest. The event was a success, again despite
the heat the fans and band filled the day with Punk, Hard Rock, Metal

Beach who rock out with a outstanding licks on keyboard and flying V
violin.

events. The Go-Go started out bad with the bands delayed due to an
accident in DC and finally closed at 10 PM due to poor attendance.
The group from the Ground Up and the Battle of the Band both had
capacity crowds. On Friday before and after the event we were able
to capture bits of the first of hopefully many performance by this
outstanding group of youth from the Calvary Baptist Church in Calvert..

Friday nights event at the Southern Community Center started out as well
attended event. We got off with a slow start due to some technical
problems with the PA, but then Space Lumberjack, Mile High School and

way through the program were were shut down because of some people who
left the event and were bothering local retirement center. We had
Lennen Falls all the way from Boston, then Defenestrate and Three Star
Shaman still to perform. It was going to be a very close battle of
the bands! Due to the premature closing of the event, PJMA was
forces to decide the winner. Defenestrate was selected because
they had sold 24 tickets, and had been pivotal in the attendance and
band lineup. Their performance if it had occurred would have been
also as remarkable.

by Against the Tide who sold lots of tickets and got the majority of the
votes was the winner. Saturday we did our first event at the CMS

e-mail. We work out the plans for Rocktober Fest in the Parking
Lot along with other plans for future events.
9 Sept
Park Rock 2006 came and went very fast. Just like the
tropical storm Ernesto that came and went on Friday before the event.
Needless to say we were impacted by the storm. We lost tent for the
north stage which resulted in moving that venue inside to the Loffler
Hall. We had no power all day Saturday and most of Sunday. We were
promised power on Saturday by 3 PM, when that did not happen we rented
generators. The show went on!. Thanks to all the fans, band
and Park Rock Staff who worked with us on Saturday to put on what we had
left of the event when the generators arrived. Sunday was a great
day, the sun shined the fans came out and the music when on and on and
on! The closing acts were great. We lived up to our goal of making
this event a huge end of summer rock concert, the largest in southern
Maryland.
Another good event was the second summer sizzler at the NAS, Patuxent
river. The military enjoyed the show and we have been invited back
for many more events. Another venue for all!
PJMA has opened up two new venues for gig exchange at
Jake and Ale's and Isaacs at Holiday Inn in Solomons. Both
are classy venues that are looking for class acts!
11 Aug
We had a great event on 28 July at the Southern Community Center.
All the band contributed to the well attended event. We are still
waiting for the county to let us know how well we did with the surplus
from the event. The event on 5 Aug was canceled due to last minute
cancellation by the groups that had signed up to play. were are looking
for options to replace the event so that we will have a full lineup for
the Fall Battle of the Bands on 6 Oct at My Brothers Place..
12 July
This was another busy weekend. The Spring Battle of the Bands
Finals at My Brothers Place featured 4 bands to to over 150 fans.
The winner was Blame the Victim who will go on to the grand finals in
Jan 2006. The Part 2 of the Battle of the Bands did not occur due
to some facility problems so instead we were able to have the band play
at the Skate Park. Part 2 BOTB will be rescheduled for a new date.
On Sunday we held our first Touring Band Concert in support of Doctors
without Borders. It was a successful event with over 9 bands
coming from 4 states to perform for the fans and skate boarders.
6 July
The Freedom Fest Concert ended up featuring three great bands Held Under
from Albany NY, Permanent Holiday and Death Among Heroes.
The rain, thunder and lighting hit during the middle of the set with
Death Among Heroes. The county had to close the fairground and we
closed the concert early. Do not miss any of these guys at their
next gig!
25 June
To all of you who stayed home because of the rain you missed some very
good groups that played at the first round of the summer battle of the
band. The Judges had a hard choice between Molotov Valentine and
Remember Daylight. The final winner was RememberDaylight.
They will be playing on 6 Oct at the Summer finals at My Brothers Place.
A special thanks to all the band who made it our to play on such a
gloomy night.
18 June
The Summer Sizzler was rained out on Wed, and got rescheduled for
Thursday. Broken Stigma and Blame the Victim were able to make the
date. The party started off slow but by the end of the night the
pavilion was surrounded by sailor rocking out. We got many request
to come back for future concerts. We should have our next gig at
PAX in late July. The Saturday Spring Concert was also a
successful event, Capsized and Drowning closed the show with their
get down hardcore metal from Delaware.
11 June
Phillips Union from Winchester VA, played both concerts on Friday and
Saturday. A very unusual sound with a SAX. They played for
well over two hours of music with some very sophisticated playing.
We look forwarded to having them back for the Park Rock Fest.
The Farmers Market at Charlotte Hall was filled with many
shoppers, however very few stopped by for the PJMA Spring Fest.
Many of the merchants could not handle the the contemporary rock music
say that the could not hear the customers and people were avoiding the
area due to the loud music. We are very grateful for the support
of the Rite Note Guitar Ship and the owner of the Farmers Market for
allowing us to try out the location for PJMA Spring Fest.
However, PJMA will not be holding any future events there do all the
negative results. We will be looking for a new location for next
years Spring Fest. The good thing for this weekend is PJMA
has obtained a 16 x 20 stage that we can use for indoor and outdoor
events in the future (most important for Park Rock 2006)
4 June
Those of you who were not at the Black Box Theater for the Spotlight
Concert this weekend missed some real good bands. Scott from Nix
the Latter put together two great shows. The Friday concert
featured Downtown Singapore. Amity a band on tour from LA was a
tight group with a great hard rock sound. The Wading Girl appeared both
Friday and Saturday with a intersting mix of hard rock, punk and
country. The Saturday concert featured The Heart String Band who
delighted the audience with a wide range of music style. At the
Coffee Quarter Harvest Fellowship Praise Band and Kristyn Leigh a
fantastic Christian singer from NC
28 May
Between the this blog and the last PJMA has organized 15 events,
including 2 so far of the Memorial weekend. The rock concerts are
all doing well, we have been having good attendance. The regional
bands are have been putting on great shows with good entertainment for
their fans. In an effort to create and share consistent rules for
security PJMA has developed a set of security standards. The new
PJMA security team will be enforcing these rules at all future PJMA
concerts. The security standards and security team guidelines are
available for download on the band resource page of this website.
30 April
Two Awesome concerts this weekend. If anyone had asked in the beginning of the
week how the weekend concerts were going to go, it was looking bad with
all the last minute band changes, competing concerts and Proms at the
local high schools. However, we had full lineups each night,
everyone had good performances, and the fans turned out. As
special thanks to Rise From Ruin who brought in 3 warm-up bands for the
Saturday Battle of the Bands at the Hollywood Rec Center and provided
their band's equipment to play on The band count for that night
was 8 bands! The winners of the Battle of the Bands were Blame the
Victim on Friday and Nervosa on Saturday.
23 April
Our second event at the Calvert Southern Community Center was big
success. All four bands had lots of fans in audience. The
music ranged from classic metal, to emo, pop punk to death metal.
Concurrently we had 4 bands perform at My Brothers Place Inc, in
Waldorf. They to brought in a good size crowd for the season.
17 April
Easter break is over. We had a good time at the Coffee Quarter
with Sapient Dove and Fall Away. Get ready to join PJMA as we
bring on a flood of spring events here in April out to June.
Something for everyone!
5 April
A lot has happened throughout the month of April.
PJMA held 10 event ranging from Winter Battle of the Bands, Spring
Concerts and Coffee House Concerts. PJMA has started a new process
for concert coordination. Bands will be asked to confirm their plans to
play a concert 3 weeks before the event. Bands who do not confirm
will be replace by a band who are confirmed. PJMA and the CBFT
have work out new date and plans for the spring and summer for booking
concerts at the Backbox Theater in Waldorf. Another new addition
to the spring and summer schedule are new date at the Calvert Southern
Community Center. The last announcement is PJMA providing music at
the Patuxent Naval Air Station for a summer picnic for the enlisted
personnel.
27 Feb
Two more rock concerts were held this past weekend (beside the Coffee
House Concert), one well attended and one poorly attended.
The Friday Battle of the Bands had 4 bands competing for the 3rd slot
for the Winter Battle of the Bands Finals on 31 March. The winner
was Semperfy. A special thanks to Fall Away who played a break
slot and provided the Judges even with a sick drummer (Thanks Brian).
The Band Three Fold Trust is to be commended for filling in the 4th Slot
on the program on Friday at 4 PM. There as a last minute
cancellation by Malice Vitality due a change of their band members.
In comparison the Saturday show the band Mass Destruction was a no show,
the Band Droplight has one band member go ill and there was only about
15 fans in the audience compared to Friday with over 200.
The lesson learned is that band need to promote their
performance and selling advance tickets to lock the fans in to coming to
the event, this did not happen with the Saturday event. Also when
a band know in advance that they can not play, a simple e-mail and phone
call will allow someone else in the Alliance to pick up a concert.
Everyone want a is successful event!
23 Feb
This weekend we had our second successful concert at the Calvert
County's Southern Community Center in Lusby. The event was a
battle of the Bands, the winner is Counterminde who will be
playing in the second slot on 31 Mar. The Valentines Concert was
an even more successful event. All the bands who performed we able
to share in the door after paying for the use of the facility and
policeman. The event also marks our return to the Hollywood Rec
Center working under our arrangements where PJMA is more responsible for
the event. We learned that we will need to restart our volunteer
Concert Security Team. Bands participating in future events will
be required to provide one adult (over 18 at least) to be part of
the security team
28 Jan
This weekend PJMA had two concurrent events on Friday. The
Coffee Quarter held the weekly Coffee House Concert with Dan from
Droplight. The second event was a Hip Hop Go Go and Rap Concert at
the Calvert County Southern Community Center. The was the first
event at the venue. Access if a bit confusing becaue you have to
go to the old Solomonds Road now call Truman Road, and then turn west on
to Apeal Road. The room we used has a good size stage and room
that is remarkably clear of clutter. Kevin Brooks organized the
event with 4 bands from 8 to 11 PM. The musician all pitched in
with setup and take down. This was much appreciated. Our
next event at this site is on 17 Feb. Planning for Park Rock has
begun in full swing with the publication of the Park Rock Operating
Plan. It can be download from this website under the General Info
Band Resources page. The Park Rock Executive Committee is fully
formed and we are looking for volunteers to fill the program producing
and event coordination positions. Send e-mail to
Fred@pjma.info to volunteer.
22 Jan
The coffee house concert at the coffee Quarter with the CMS Guitar Club
featured a Fender Strat donated by Nambo Guitar Emporium that will be
raffled off at a fund raiser on 18 Feb for the Tri County Youth llll.
The first part of the Battle of the Bands competed 4 Bands from Calvert
County at My Brothers Place. The winner was Fall Away who scored
the best because of selling all their advance tickets, getting the high
number of votes from the audience and being rated the highest by the
Judges. They will be the first Band to play at the Winter Battle
of the band on 31 March.
16 Jan
This past weekend we has three successful event. The owner of the
Coffee Quarter reports that the music on Friday went well. A special
thanks for Miles for doing the sound. The 2005 Winter Battle of
the Bands Finals had over 250 fans. it was a long evening. There
was a special guest appearance of by member of the former band The
Hurting Truth now with a new line up and new name -Death Among Heroes. The judge was
Paul Throne from P.A.T. Productions. The winner was Count Your
Blessings. The Saturday event was the Spotlight Concert at the
Black Box Theatre. The theater has a capacity crowd to see the
performance by Semperfy, Reflection Factor and Eternal Winter.
This event marked a new relationship with the CBFT. They will be
providing more date and higher sharing of the door with PJMA as the
result of our good effort for the past year.
9 Jan
Both the Coffee House Concert and Winter Concert were well attended and
the music was great. Ernie Keen performed with a full band.
After playing his planned 45 minute set, he can back and play a encore
set closing down the Coffee Quarter. Just before the Winter
Concert on Saturday we sent our a plea for a replacement for Just
Another Hero. Droplight was on online and was able to pull off a
last minute performance bring in a sizable crowd. The other two
bands Semperfy and Count Your Blessings also get a special thanks
because they also filled in for bands that canceled earlier in the week
and played awesome sets with good size audience. Does anyone know
what happened to Fallen Chaos they did not show up for this show or
shows in December?
5 Jan
We have added a small version of the bilog here on the main page of the
PJMA website to give better visibiltiy to the happening of PJMA and to
force me to provide something each week. This Saturday's concert
is a good example of how well all of you help with the PJMA events.
We have had several changes in the band lineup all filled by other
members. Thanks to the PJMA members we have a great line-up and it
will the a rocking concert.
30 May
PJMA held a Thank You Party for all the bands and volunteers at Park
Rock 2004. There was an equal number of band members and fans came
and joined the celebrations. Bands were jamming on the stage
from 2 PM to 10 PM. The fans from Eternal Winter, and Reign Within know
how to party!
7 May
Or thanks to the all four band who played this eveing. In Tyler We
Trust came and played with substutie members and then rushed off to make
thier school PROM. Army of None too came despite thier internal
striff to play thier set. Rivera never appeared. This is the
thier time they have not showed up for an event and will not be able to
play in future events.
6 May
We held our second Christian Coffee House at the IHM Church Hall.
The groups varied from folk rock to contemporary to metal. The
unexpected hit of the night was Stones Overtunrned. Their heavy
metal sound and Christian theme was a crowd pleaser with the youth who
attended the event. The night closed with Crosseyed. The are
looking for a new name to reflect their current new members of their
group. Crosseyed made a great closing act for the evening. The IHM
youth group will be making this one of their annual events.
30 April
This was the first show that we have held at Carver Rec Center in the
Multi-Media Room. All the way around it was a better location at
that site for our current concerts. The sound was better.
The audience was closer. The access was better. However the
almost all out of county bands program did not bring in the crowd.
We have experience this in the past and will avoid having this kind of
mix in the future. As for the groups Catching Thieves and
Semperfy were impressive. The other band played well too.
4 April
The recording of the State of Rock took a new approach with the event
being held at My Brothers Place. Despite a delayed start all 4
bands got their chance to be recorded for future cable TV broadcast.
The plan is to edit the show and get it shown on St Marys and Charles
County Public Access. The Baltimore connection to Musicworkz has
not produced any shows. We will continue to interface with them to
see what can be done to improve their support.
23 April
This event was to feature Lividity, however their drummer broke his leg
so they could not play. Eva however did a great service by
continuing to support the event by getting a replacements bands. putting
out flyers, and coming to support the event. A special thanks to
Brambledon Productions how came down from La Plata to provide the sound
for the event. The spring concert brought to the scene the group
Electric Citizens who played a great set of alternative music.
Stealth Waffles, Flashbasket and Droplight rounded out the night with
their high energy sounds.
22 April
This was a sad day for our efforts for the Coffee House Concerts in
Leonardtown. The two groups that were to play did not.
One canceled and other did not show. We filled the time with a
short performance by Fred and Sue Heather. However no one appeared to
listen to the music. A week later the owner of the shop sent an
e-mail advising that he was not going to support concert for the future
due to the poor attendance. All coffee house concerts henceforth
are being held at the Coffee Quarter.
1 April
The group Bond Ambition preformed at the Coffee Quarter. She
played an amazing set with a good size crowd. Her song about being
a St Maries resident is was the high point of the evening.
April 9
We just wrapped up the Winter Battle of the Bands and right in to spring
battle. The Bands did well with the ticket sale and brought in a
good size crowd for their audience. It was clear from the audience
that it was going to be close between Malice Vitality and Three Fold
Trust. This night marked the first performance ever of Malice
Vitality. Some where between death metal and hardcore the put on a
growled out some great songs. The second act
dEbRiS. Lacking a following but still put on
some good tunes. Cut Throat Policy has undergone several change
over the past year, all to their better in playing hardcore. Three
Fold Trust with their EMO to hardcore style captured the audience with
the closing act. The winner was Malice Vitality with high sores in
ticket sales and audience vote. Thanks to the judges picked out by
the bands who helped score this weeks bands.
April 8
The Winter Battle of the Bands Finals was held at My Brothers Place in Waldorf. There were over 280 fans that came to see Arsenic, Postscript Apologies, Define New Ara and Avenue compete. Define New Ara was a replacement for Lividity who unfortunately could not play because of an injured drummer. It was clear from the audience attendance that it was going to be close between Arsenic and Avenue. All the band played well. Even DNA who came on a 3 hour drive from western MD, and were suffering from the flue introduced the audience to their unique combination of RAP, soul, and rocking metal. The winners were Arsenic who got First Prize (Recording with KMH Studio), Avenue with Second Place (Recording with Brambledon Productions), DNA with Third Place (Recording with Test Box Studio), and Postscript Apologies with Fourth Place (Recording with My Brother's Place Studio)
March 19
The last
of the Winter Battle of the Bands was held at Hollywood Rec Center. On
that Saturday afternoon there was a last minute replacement of Ad Astra with
The Untold Story. The success of the evening was in question due to the
majority of the bands were out of county and the last minute change however
we had one of the best concerts in a long time. The success can be
attributed to the hard efforts of Avenue who worked the new advance ticket
sale to their advantage to attract the crowd. Needless to say
Avenue won first place followed by Life Goes On in second place, Depotts, in third place and
Untold Story in fourth place
March 25
The 2004 Battle of the Band Grand Finals was held at My Brothers Place. There were two judges; one each from DCide Records and DC 101. The band Flashbasket had replaced Second Sunrise in the competition due to change in the band. Each of the winners were given a special engraved Lucite monolith award with the PJMA Log and encryption citing the event and winning place. First Place went to Amaranth, second place was Flashbasket, third was Cut Throat Policy and fourth place was Stealth Waffles
