On 30 Aug & 31
Aug 2008 the
Power Jam Music
Alliance and
St
Mary's County will hold
the
Park Rock Fest 2008 at the
Chancellors Run
Regional Park. 2008 will mark the 6th year of holding this event.
There are
Six music stages with 12 band (or more)
on each stage with a total of 125
(or more) bands performing
concurrently throughout the two days. Surrounding the stages there are
three areas to where vendors and community groups will be sharing and
participating in the event. The
Food
Court is where area vendors will satisfy the hunger and thirst of the attendees.
The Market Place is where area vendors will be displaying and
or selling
their merchandise. Lastly, the
Community
Center for civic, educational, welfare and social organizations will be
sharing their group's goals, ideas and services.

participation from last year 2007.
The gates for Park Rock Fest open at 9 AM and close at
11 PM on both days. The current 12 bands is based on a band
playing a 30 to 45 minute set. The order given below is not
the play order, it is the order in which we received the booking. The
producer for the stage is responsible for determining the band play order
for the program. The music program will be published on the
Park Rock
website.
We also have Hot backup bands and Standby
Band list.
Hot Backup bands come to the event ready to play and when a band is not on
site 1 hour before their set time they will be replace by the Hot Backup and
the scheduled band will become a hot backup band. The Standby Band list are bands waiting to move into the
Hot
Backup or scheduled program slot. When a band cancels, the replacement
band is picked from either the Hot Backup or Standby Band list depending
upon the music program for the stage.
In past years we had
hoped to provide a $100 stipend to each of the bands, however the
attendance growth has been lower that needed and high security cost made
this impractical, so we will sponsor our 3rd Park Rock Thank You party
on 10 Nov and provide each band gas money.
This year we will start with a more reasonable goal based on what we have been able to give each band for
the past years of at least $50 stipend with the
the goal increasing the the amount based on the attendance
(i.e. $12,000 surplus would be required to obtain the goal of $100 each). Bands get free access to the event for
both days.
PJMA is the organizer of this event however it is
the alliance volunteers that actually produce the event. We
are in need of volunteers for the various positions in the Park
Rock Committee that is planning and running the event.
The roster of volunteers and open positions is provided below.
The volunteers get to share their skills in running a professional event.
All volunteers get free access to the fest.
As with all PJMA events, this is a drug free, alcohol
free, and obscenity free event. Please be familiarly with our PJMA
guidelines for participation and vendor responsibilities.
The
Park Rock Operating Plan has a detailed description of the event and plans
(2008 version)
The rest of this page is for
booking of bands,

Yes you see it, a
registration
deposit of $20!
Why? Because we have move to a more professional booking and
commitment by bands for the music program. For the past 2 years we
have been requesting this deposit. The bands have been more responsive
to pre-event coordination and also has minimize bands that fail appear to
perform. This has reduced overbooking, hardships to the performing
bands schedules, scheduling problems for the producers and poor
entertainment value for the attendees. The band's registration deposit
of $20
is needed to be considered for review by the producers and scheduling on the
advertised program. The Registration
Deposit will be fully refunded to the band if the band is not schedule play, when the band performs at
the Park Rock or if the band notifies us by e-mail prior to the Park Rock
that the band can not perform. The Registration Deposit will be lost
when the band does not contact us to cancel
before 1 Aug
or fails to appear to perform at
the event. When you appear at the at the event your $20
will be refunded to the person who signs the band in at the headquarters
band registration desk
