The Event
On 5 Sept &
6 Sept 2009 the

Alliance and
St
Mary's County will hold
the
Park Rock Fest 2009 at the
Chancellors Run
Regional Park. 2009 will mark the 7th year of holding this event.
There are
SixMusic Stages with 10 band (or more)
on each stage with a total of 125
(or more) bands performing
concurrently throughout the two days. New for 2009, we will be closing down
all the stages in the evening except for the Field Stage which will become
the "Main Stage". The Main Stage will be featuring a national major act
and two other popular regional bands.
Surrounding the stages there are
three areas to where vendors and community groups will be sharing and
participating in the event. The
Food
Court is where area vendors will satisfy the hunger and thirst of the attendees.
The
Market Place is where area vendors will be displaying and
or selling
their merchandise and services. Lastly, the
Community
Center is for civic, educational, welfare and social organizations to
sharing their group's goals, ideas and services. We have two site on
the web for promoting Park Rock Fest. The
www.ParkRock.com website is the
official home for the event. We also have
www.myspace.com/parkrockfest
as our site for networking, click the link and ask to be our friend!
The Schedule
The gates for Park Rock Fest open at 9 AM and close at
11 PM on both days. The current 10 bands per stage is based on a band
playing a 30 to 45 minute set. to about 8 PM, when the Main Stage will
be the only open stage featuring the best band from the Special Park Rock Battle of
the Bands and a National Closing Act Band.
The stage program order
given below during the period of Feb to May shows the bands for the stage
program and order in which we received their booking. After June the Music Stage Programs changes to show the actual order the bands
play. Watch the list below for when the notes at the top change and
times are added. The
producer for the stage is responsible for determining the band play order
for the program. The music program will be published on the
Park Rock
website. too
Up until the end of May we
are posting bands that register, after May the producers will decide what
band to book and the list will show the order the bands play.
Bands that did not get book but are still registered will be shown on
the Hot Backup Bands and Standby
Band depending upon how the bands want to be booked.
Hot Backup Bands come to the event ready to play and when a band is not on
site 1 hour before their set time they will be replace by the Hot Backup
Band and
the scheduled band will become a Hot Backup Band. The Standby Band list are bands waiting to move into the
Hot
Backup or scheduled program slots. When a band cancels before the
event begins, then the replacement
band is picked from either the Hot Backup or Standby Band list depending
upon the music style needed for the stage with the opening.
Volunteering to Support Park
Rock Fest
PJMA is the organizer of this event however it is
the alliance volunteers that actually produce the event. We
are in need of volunteers for the various positions in the Park
Rock Committee that is planning and running the event.
The roster of volunteers and open positions is provided below.
The volunteers get to share their skills in running a professional event.
All volunteers get free access to the fest for both days.
Park Rock Operating Plan
As with all PJMA events, this is a drug free, alcohol
free, and obscenity free event. Please be familiarly with our PJMA
guidelines for participation and vendor responsibilities.
The
2009 Park Rock Operating Plan has a detailed description of the event and plans
Promoting Park Rock Fest
PJMA is mounting a all effort to increase
attendance at Park Rock Fest 2009. The Park Rock Committee has
diversified the musicians to attract a wider range of attendees.
We are featuring a "Main Stage" with a national act to increase
attendance. We will be holding special Park Rock pre-evetns to draw attention and create longer exposure to
the Park Rock Fest. This on top of our post card flyers, big
posters, radio advertising, TV advertising, community calendars and news
coverage. It cannot be stressed enough that all musician too
need to work hard to promote and to bring in higher attendance at Park
Rock.
Booking Bands to Perform at Park Rock
A $20 per band/group/act
non-refundable registration fee is required to be consider to perform at Park Rock Fest 2009. PJMA is looking for
performers that are committed to supporting Park Rock for its exposure
and community benefit. The performers commitment should be
as supportive as are the efforts of the PJMA volunteers, sponsor and
vendors in spending over a year planning the fest and then staffing it
for well over 48 hours over the 4 day period. Bands that play at
other PJMA events can have $20 of their event gas money be directed to pay
for the registration fee. Registrations that are received without
the deposit will be required to pay the registration in order to be
booked on the program.
The Park Rock Fest is all
about exposure for the performers. The two day event seeks to create a huge
festival atmosphere to highlight contemporary rock music. The Park Rock
Fest's audience draw is it shear concentration of so many musicians. Park
Rock challenge is attracting that huge audience so that contemporary
musicians can be seen and known The bottom-line impact to the
finances of Park Rock is that audience attendance determines the surplus
funds available to share with the musicians, stage production crew, staff
and volunteers.
We have learned from our
past events that in today's economy we cannot predict the surplus funds that
will be available. Instead we are going to challenge the performers to
create a huge a surplus for 2009 to share with the musicians after the event
is over. The amount could range from $0 to +$100, but there is no guaranteed
money for performers at 2009. It all depends on who comes to Park
Rock!
